Five years after the release of "The year of radio silence", Disease are back with a new album that continues a long history of change and evolution.
If in the previous one we had focused on more introspective and melancholy atmospheres with electronic and post-rock contaminations, this time we back to a more angry and aggressive form, without forgetting experimentation and research of the melody.
The entry of Boris Santini on drums has greatly contributed to this path: his enthusiasm, his energy and his drumming style has refreshed the songwriting of the new songs, making express the various souls of our music at our best.
As in the previous works,  Into The Red is a concept album in some way: although different topics and atmospheres, there is a common thread that binds the songs into a single final vision.
The principal topic is about what happens to the world in those recent years: the massive spreading of hatred culture, the growing need to point out differences and divisions, and the prejudice towards anyone who comes from outside and is a stranger to us.
This constant sense of distrust and lack of perspective for the future has generated a strong sense of alienation and a crumbling of social cohesion:  people are more angry and disheartened, vent of repression and loneliness generate hate against invisible enemies created by ignorance, prejudice, and by a constant maddening political exploitation. Empathy is dying: the worst aspects of human beings are accepted,  normalized, and then spat out through social media, verbal violence, and rhetoric that never knows shame or repentance.
In between, we find ourselves facing unexpected situations, such as this COVID-19 pandemic which is redesigning every form of sociality,  or no less serious private tragedies that inevitably modify our existence and perception of the outside world: it impacts our conscience in a way more or less aware, pushing us to constant existential reflections, which can question all our certainties.
Into The Red tells about a strong reaction to madness and pain, how to take strength from one's values, from the ancient legacy of our land, and the positive energy of nature, the pure and regenerating force of our souls.
The red that tinges the dawn is the prelude to a new day in which we will have to fight to be not like the others, to not remain indifferent, to not disappear without having left any trace of our existence.
Into the red is a descent into the belly of the lake, its troubled crossing, and finally the steep ascent that will take us in a new direction: a new road to discover and experience.
In 26 years of Disease's activity, we have learned how music can tell important life stories and be a testimony of who collects it in their songs. It's a connection between the past of who we were, the present of who we are today, and the future of whom we will be tomorrow, an infinite spinning of visionary sensations and energies that transcend space and time.
Music is the magic that makes us different and free, it is the story we are living every day, constantly changing form and language as if we were wanderers on a journey into infinity.
This is our destiny and our treasure, nothing else matters.
